As the world adjusts to the new “normal” created by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is our responsibility as educators to support the continued growth of our students. The state of Alabama has just accomplished that goal!
In early June, the state of Alabama issued an RFP asking for a quality online content provider to offer state correlated content for many of the 730,000 students in Alabama for grades PreK – 12. Nine of the most prominent content providers from around the country all answered this request with submitted proposals.
During last Thursday’s press conference, it was announced that the Alabama State Department of Education had chosen a provider for virtual learning this academic school year. After an “extreme vetting process”, the contract was awarded to SchoolsPLP.
In an interview with ABC’s local Huntsville affiliate, Alabama School Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey was asked why the state went with this option. He replied that “SchoolsPLP provides the best resources for what students in our state need. [The] lessons, their links, videos …the [resources] that they are using to teach children are high quality and aligned to Alabama’s courses and learning standards.”
School districts in Alabama that had already been using SchoolsPLP for several years were elated to find out the state virtual contract was awarded to SchoolsPLP. Dr. Julon Eatmon of Birmingham City Schools commented that “SchoolsPLP’s content and student monitoring have made my job of ensuring the success of our students much easier. We utilize the program for new and recovered credits.” Director of Curriculum in Walker County, Steve Rowe added, “first and foremost we have had a tremendously positive implementation of PLP for a few years now. This state-wide contract with the state board of education is such great news.”
With over 550 digital curricula options, as well as the option for curricula to be delivered in printed form, SchoolsPLP brings together multiple providers to a single platform creating the best learning experience for students.
